28.06.2010 FRA report on child trafficking in the EU

One of the key FRA reports produced by FRALEX was presented to the European Parliament.

Kari Käsper represented our centre as an expert at the 'Media for Diversity in New EU Countries' Conference’. The conference was held in Bucharest, Romania on the 28-30 May 2010.

I am pleased to inform you of a project developed by the Council of Europe in cooperation with ELSA (European Law Students Association, www.elsa.org) intended to mark the 60th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights.

08.05.2010 FRA publishes pack of new reports on the 7th of May 2010

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) released a package of three reports on 7 May 2010: * a report on data protection authorities, * a report on national human rights institutions and * a report on the impact of the Racial Equality Directive.

The Human Rights Centre will present it’s newly published report on the status of human rights in Estonia this Friday. Our centre has examined how the Estonian government has done over the past few years in defending the rights of people living here. Everyone is invited to attend the presentation, on the 30th of April, 12.00 at the Kapa Conference Hall in the Hotel Olympia.

26.04.2010 Human Rights Centre at the training on Estonian Integration Plan 2008 - 2013

Marianne Meiorg, expert and member of the Management Board of the Human Rights Centre, will give a lecture on the protection of minority rights in international and national law.

The 3rd Fundamental Rights Platform meeting took place in Vienna on 15-16 April. The meeting brought together around 150 representatives of civil society organisations from across the European Union (26 EU Member States were represented by civil society organisations).

The members of the directors board of our human rights centre attend the 3rd Fundamental Rights Platform Meeting, held on the 15th and 16th of April 2010 in Vienna.

07.04.2010 Training of involuntary return

Marianne Meiorg – Director of the Estonian Human Rights Centre – attended today in training arranged by the Police and Border Guard Board in Estonia. She had a short lecture on human rights and international law and how to apply them in return proceedings.

06.04.2010 The European Parliament adopts resolution on preventing trafficking in human rights

The resolution refers to the EU Fundamental Rights Agency child trafficking report, which the Human Rights Centre contributed to and provided information on Estonia.

31.03.2010 GoJIL hosts an annual student essay competition on a current topic of international law

Submission for the Student Essay Competition shall not exceed 3000 words in length and must be in accordance with our guidelines. Papers are judged based on the appeal of the special topic chosen, its argumentation, structure and compliance with formalities.We strongly encourage you to participate and to take advantage of this great opportunity for young scholars.

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights invites you to participate in the International Video Competition 2010. The 3 strongest entries will each win a 5 day trip for 2 people to Vienna, from 6-10 May 2010, with transportation and accommodation included.

12.03.2010 Director Marianne Meiorg to attend 2nd International Academy on Teaching Human Rights

The 2nd International Academy on Teaching Human Rights shall primarily cover the topic of ‘Remembrance and Human Rights’. The International Academy is for people working in the fields of human rights education, historical education and remembrance.

01.03.2010 ELDIA Meeting in Mainz, Germany

Director Marianne Meiorg will be representing our Human Rights Centre in Mainz. Germany on the 8th and 9th of March at the kick-off meeting of ELDIA

26.02.2010 The Human Rights Centre now member of the Fundamental Rights Platform

From this year our Human Rights Centre has become an official member of the Fundamental Rights Platform of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights.

14.01.2010 Estonian Human Rights Centre

Estonian Human Rights Centre was founded as a foundation on 21 December 2009. It was registered in the appropriate registry on 5 January 2010.
